AdditionalconsiderationsapplywheninstallingtheRadarscanneronasailingvessel.
WhenmountingtheRadarscannerunitontothemast,checkthattheunitisnotfouledbythe
sails,especiallywhentacking.
Dependingonthetypeofsailingvesselandthedesignofthesailplan,aRadarscannerguard
shouldbeattachedtothemastifthesailsorriggingcontacteithertheRadarscannerunitor
themountingbracket.WithoutaproperRadarguard,seriousdamagecanresulttotheRadar
mountingbracketandtheRadaritself.Inextremecases,suchdamagecouldresultintheRadar
scannerunitbeingpulledoffthemast.Therefore,itisrecommendedthataRadarscannerguard
shouldbemountedadditionallyandseparatelytotheRadarscannermountingbracket.
TopreventtheriskoftheRadarscannerunitfallingafterithasbeendamaged,thesecuritylanyard
suppliedwiththemastbracketMUSTbesecuredproperlytothemastandtotheRadarscanner
unit,accordingtotheinstructionsprovidedwiththebracket.Ifasafetylanyardisnotsupplied
withthemountingbracket,contactyourlocaldealerforappropriateparts.DoNOTattachother
equipmenttoeithertheRadarscannerunitorthebracket.
Raymarinestronglyrecommendsthatyouchecktheconditionandsecurityofthebracket
mountingfeet,thesecuritylanyard(s),theRadarscannerguard,andtheRadarscannerunititself,
onayearlybasis(ormorefrequentlydependingonenvironmentalapplications).Anyfittings
shouldbereplacedasappropriate.
ThefollowingillustrationshowsanexampleofaninstallationfeaturingaRadarscannerfittedtoa
typicalmountingbracket,aRadarguardattachedtothemast(separatelytotheRadarmounting
bracket),andsafetylanyards:
