Acknowledgingadistresscall
Distresscallsmustonlybeacknowledgedifthecall
continueswithoutacknowledgementfromaCRS,you
arecloseenoughtothedistressedvesseltobeof
assistanceandarepreparedtorelaythedistresstoa
CRSbyanymeanspossible.ClassDDSCradiosare
forbiddenfromautomaticallyacknowledgingdistress
calls.Acknowledgementmustonlybemadebyvoice
messageonchannel16.
Afterreceivingadistresscallthathasgoneunanswered:
1.Switchtochannel16tolistenforthedistressvoice
message.
2.WaitfortheCRStoacknowledgethecall.
3.Ifthedistresscallisnotacknowledgedbyanother
stationthenacknowledgethecallasfollows:

FromtheIndividualCallmenu:Menu→DSCCalls
→IndividualCall.
1.SelectPhonebooktomakearoutinecalltoa
contactsavedinyourPhonebook,or
2.SelectRecentCallstomakearoutinecalltoa
contactthatyouhavecalledrecently,or
3.SelectEnterMMSItomanuallyentertheMMSI
numberofthestationyouwanttocontact.
4.SelectacontactorenteranMMSImanuallyand
presstheOKbutton.
5.SelecttheChannelyouwanttotransmitthecallon.
IftheMMSIisaCSRthentheradiowillautomatically
tunetothecorrectChannel.Theradiowillwaitfor
anacknowledgementtobereceived.
6.Ifanacknowledgementisreceived,presstheOK
button.
7.PressandholdthePTTbuttonandspeakyour
message.
8.ReleasethePTTbuttonwhenyouhavecompleted
yourmessage.
