How to fix sooting in Raypak 130A?
    • C
      cheyennehernandezAug 17, 2025
Sooting in your Raypak Swimming Pool Heater can be caused by several factors. High flow rates can cause sooting; reduce them by adding a manual bypass valve and adjusting it until the heater outlet water temperature is between 105°F and 110°F. Air starvation can also lead to sooting; refer to the installation instructions. Improper venting may be the cause; follow the recommended installation instructions. Finally, insects or debris clogging the burner intake ports can cause sooting; clean the burners.

    • A
      Anthony PalmerAug 20, 2025
A yellow, lazy flame in your Raypak Swimming Pool Heater can be due to low gas pressure, so adjust the gas pressure. Alternatively, insects or debris may be clogging the burner intake ports; in this case, clean the burners.

How to fix pilot outage in Raypak 130A?
    • D
      David FuentesAug 22, 2025
A pilot outage in your Raypak Swimming Pool Heater can be caused by low gas pressure, so adjust the gas pressure. It could also be due to a restricted pilot, so clean the pilot. A weak pilot generator can also cause this issue, so replace the pilot.

Why does my Raypak 130A take so long to heat the pool or spa?
    • W
      William WyattAug 26, 2025
Several factors can cause your Raypak Swimming Pool Heater to take too long to heat your pool or spa. It could be due to an undersized heater, in which case you should calculate the heating capacity of your heater: Htr. output(BTUH). This calculation does not account for heat loss due to weather. Other potential causes include the filter not running long enough (reset the time clock), a dirty filter (clean the filter), an undersized gas line or meter (refer to installation instructions), or debris in the gas line (remove the debris or blow out the gas line).

What to do if my Raypak Swimming Pool Heater is going on and off continuously?
    • M
      Mr. Eric HudsonAug 27, 2025
If your Raypak Swimming Pool Heater is cycling on and off, several issues could be the cause. Check for a dirty filter and clean or replace it. Ensure the water level in the pool is adequate and raise it if necessary. The external bypass setting might be out of adjustment, so adjust the bypass. Also, the pressure switch could be improperly adjusted; in this case, adjust the pressure switch.

What causes harmonics or whining noise in Raypak Swimming Pool Heater?
    • A
      Anthony PerryAug 30, 2025
Harmonics or a whining noise in your Raypak Swimming Pool Heater can stem from a few sources. Debris or a restriction in the system could be the cause; locate and remove the restriction, then flush and clean the system. Low flow can also cause this issue. If scale is forming in the heat exchanger, clean the heat exchanger and check the pool's pH and total alkalinity.

What causes liming or scale forming in exchanger of Raypak 130A Swimming Pool Heater?
    • D
      Diana AvilaSep 4, 2025
Liming or scale formation in the heat exchanger of your Raypak Swimming Pool Heater can be attributed to pool water issues; refer to the Water Chemistry section for guidance. pblevinsSep 6, 2025
If the outer jacket of your Raypak Swimming Pool Heater is very hot and the paint is blistered, it could be due to a broken refractory caused by shipping damage or improper combustion; replace the refractory panels. Excessive sooting of the heat exchanger can also cause this; determine the cause of the sooting and correct it.

What causes leaking at heat exchanger of Raypak Swimming Pool Heater?
    • S
      Sean BuckSep 9, 2025
Leaking at the heat exchanger of your Raypak Swimming Pool Heater can be caused by overacid conditions, in which case you should replace the heat exchanger and maintain proper water chemistry. Over chlorination can also cause this; check the location of the chlorinator and backflow preventer.
