THE
HEA
TER
CONTROL
SYSTEM
The
heater
control
system
consists
of
two
thermostats
(refer
to
Figure
3).
A
thermostat
in
the
heater
duct
controls
the
duct
temperature
according
to
its
setting,
which
is
varied
by
the
push-pull
control
CABIN
HEAT
in
the
subpanel.
When
the
push-pull
control
is
all
the
way
out,
the
heater
will
automatically
shut
off
when
the
duct
temperature
reaches
180"F.
The
further
the
control
is
pushed
in,
the
lower
the
temperature
at
which
the
heater
will
shut
off.
An
overheat
thermostat
on
the
heater
is
set
to
shut
off
the
heater
between
260
and
325"F
in
case
the
duct
thermostat
malfunctions.
On
TC-1658
thru
TC-1722,
TE-959,
TE-968
thru
TE-990
and
TH-437
thru
TH-496,
it
is
a
normally
closed
thermoswitch
which
opens
in
an
overheat
condition
breaking
the
circuit.
When
the
heater
has
cooled
sufficiently,
the
switch
will
reset
completing
the
circuit
again.
On
TC-1723
and
After,
TE-991
and
After
and
TH-497
and
After,
the
thermoswitch
is
a
normally
closed
circuit
breaker
which
opens
in
an
overheat
condition
breaking
the
circuit.
The
circuit
breaker
must
be
manually
reset
before
the
heater
will
operate
again.
The
circuit
breaker
can
not
be
reset
while
the
airplane
is
in
flight.
NOTE
There
is
only
one
heater
fuel
pump
in
this
system
which
furnishes
fuel
to
the
heater
on
the
ground
or
in
the
air.
