Overview

This document describes the Rinnai T Series Split Type Wall Mounted Air Conditioner, an appliance designed for residential and light commercial applications, providing cooling, heating, and dehumidifying functions. It uses R32 refrigerant and is designed for optimal user comfort and energy efficiency.

Function Description:

The Rinnai T Series air conditioner offers various operational modes to suit different comfort needs:

  • Cooling Mode: Operates the air conditioner to cool the room, with an adjustable temperature range of 16°C to 32°C in 0.5°C increments.
  • Heating Mode: Operates the air conditioner to heat the room, with an adjustable temperature range of 16°C to 32°C in 0.5°C increments.
  • Fan Only Mode: Circulates room air without changing the temperature. Fan speed can be manually adjusted.
  • Auto Mode: Automatically adjusts fan speed, temperature, and operational mode (cooling, dry, or heating) based on the current room temperature to maintain optimal comfort.
  • Dry (Dehumidifying) Mode: Removes excess moisture from the room during periods of high humidity to prevent mold and mildew. The appliance automatically adjusts room temperature and fan speed to maintain optimal humidity levels.
  • Turbo Mode: Allows for rapid cooling or heating of indoor air by operating the fan at maximum output. This mode is not available in Auto, Fan, or Dry modes.
  • Quiet Mode: Operates the appliance at its lowest noise output level, ideal for minimal indoor noise. Fan speed cannot be altered in this mode.
  • Sleep Mode: Automatically adjusts the set temperature over a 10-hour period to maintain comfort while saving energy. For cooling, the temperature increases; for heating, it decreases. This mode is not available in Fan Only mode.
  • Delay ON/OFF Timer: Allows users to set a countdown timer to automatically turn the appliance ON or OFF after a specified period (0.5 to 24 hours in 0.5-hour increments).
  • Auto Fresh Function: Runs the fan for 3 minutes after every shut-down during cooling and dehumidifying operations to remove moisture, avoid odors, and keep the unit fresh. This function does not operate in Timer OFF or Sleep modes.
  • Spot Swing Function: Provides 5 pre-set fixed air flow directions horizontally, allowing users to cycle through them or return to continuous circulation.
  • Economy (Cooling Only) Mode: Automatically sets the operation to achieve the most economical cooling of the room. This mode runs for an 8-hour period, after which normal cooling operations resume.
  • Cleaning Operation: A 35-minute cycle to dry the inside of the indoor unit, removing dust and moisture to help avoid odors, especially when the appliance will not be used for an extended period. The appliance automatically shuts off after completion.
  • Wi-Fi (Health) Function: Activates or resets the Wi-Fi module of the appliance when the button is pressed 8 times in quick succession. Further details are available in the Wi-Fi Operation Manual.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Refrigerant: R32 (difluoromethane), a flammable gas class 2.2 according to AS 1677. Handling requires a refrigeration mechanic with an appropriate Australian refrigerant handling license.
  • Temperature Ranges (Operation):
    • Cool Mode: Room Temperature > 17°C, Outdoor Temperature -15°C ~ 52°C
    • Heat Mode: Room Temperature < 27°C, Outdoor Temperature -15°C ~ 24°C
    • Dry Mode: Room Temperature > 17°C, Outdoor Temperature -15°C ~ 52°C
  • Power Supply: The remote control uses AAA (1.5 V) batteries.
  • Models:
    • System: HSNRT25B, HSNRT35B, HSNRT50B, HSNRT70B, HSNRT80B
    • Indoor Unit: HINRT25B, HINRT35B, HINRT50B, HINRT70B, HINRT80B
    • Outdoor Unit: HONRT25B, HONRT35B, HONRT50B, HONRT70B, HONRT80B

Usage Features:

  • Remote Control: The primary interface for operating the air conditioner. It features external buttons for basic operations (ON/OFF, FAN speed, Temperature adjustment, COOL, HEAT, vertical SWING, horizontal SWING) and buttons behind a door for advanced operations (MODE selection, TURBO, HEALTH, QUIET, SLEEP, TIMER, ROOM°C Temperature display/Follow Me, DISPLAY, FRESH, CLEAN, SPOT SWING, ECO).
  • Remote Control Cradle: A slide-in cradle is provided for fixing the remote control to a wall for convenience. It should not be mounted in direct sunlight.
  • Signal Receiver Window: The remote control must be pointed towards the signal receiver window on the indoor unit for proper operation.
  • Large Temperature Display: The set and current room temperatures can be displayed via a large digital display built into the indoor unit's front cover.
  • Room Temperature Display / Follow Me Function: The remote control can display either the set temperature or the current ambient room temperature at its location. It measures temperature and sends signals to the appliance 7 times in 2 hours for more accurate room temperature control.
  • Manual ON/OFF (Auto) Button: Located on the indoor unit, this button allows operation of the air conditioner without the remote control. In this mode, the appliance defaults to AUTO OPERATION, automatically adjusting cooling, heating, and fan speed.
  • Power Interruption Automatic Restart: In case of a power outage, the system will automatically restart with the previous settings once power is restored. This cycle takes approximately 5 minutes.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Maintenance:
    • Indoor Unit: Clean the outer surface regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
    • Remote Control: Replace batteries as needed or once per year.
    • Professional Service: Annual professional service is recommended for both indoor and outdoor units to maintain operational efficiency and warranty validity.
  • Cleaning the Air Filter:
    • Clean the air filter every 2 weeks or more frequently if necessary.
    • Turn off power before cleaning.
    • Open the front cover, lift the air filter tab, and remove it.
    • Clean with a vacuum cleaner or warm water. For stubborn dirt, use lukewarm water with mild detergent.
    • Dry the filter in the shade before re-inserting it securely.
    • Caution: Do not use water hotter than 40°C or volatile substances to clean filters, as this may cause deformation or discoloration. Failure to clean filters regularly can lead to condensation and dripping from the indoor unit in humid conditions.
  • Service Maintenance Schedule: A detailed schedule is provided for annual maintenance by a qualified licensed technician, covering electrical components, major components (indoor and outdoor units), refrigeration connections, fan assemblies, controls, and system operation. This includes checks for wiring, fan motors, capacitors, printed circuit boards, unit clearances, condensate trays/drains, refrigerant charge, louver operation, and temperature readings.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: A "Save a Service Call" section provides common symptoms and their causes, such as water flowing noise, mist from the indoor unit, remote control issues, appliance stopping, and inadequate cooling/heating, along with recommended solutions.
  • When to Call for Service: Specific conditions that warrant contacting Rinnai for service include burning smell, strange sounds, water leaks from the indoor unit even at low humidity, or a tripped circuit breaker/blown fuse.
