PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SUGGESTION
Chicks that hatch late
The eggs suffered a temperature
jump at being immediately placed
in the incubator from the storage
area
It is advisable to let the eggs
rest for about 6 hours inside
the incubation room in order to
preheat them, select the eggs to
be incubated with greater care,
check and correct the operation
of the incubator
Large and old eggs
Too low temperature
Too high humidity
Yolk not completely reabsorbed
Too low temperature during
incubation
Select more carefully the eggs to
incubate and if necessary check
and correct the operation of the
incubator
Too high humidity during
incubation
When the incubation is not successful, it is advisable to break the shell of the discarded eggs and check the
presumable age of embryonic death.
9. PROBLEMS THAT CAN OCCUR IN HATCHING
Sometimes it may happen that the embryo forms, but the chick is unable to hatch, in most cases dying in
the last 3 days preceding hatching. This situation is technically called ‘late embryonic mortality’ and can have
multiple causes. As already mentioned, even before the operating modes of the machine and the modulation
of temperature and humidity with the local reality, the secret to obtaining a good hatch lies in starting with
suitable eggs, respecting the indications provided and the weight standards of the breed. Even if the eggs
were selected in an adequate manner but the results do not conform to expectations, the explanation may be
found in various other causes, such as inbreeding or dietary deciencies in the parents, embryonic hypotrophi-
city, altered oogenesis, viral infections or bacterial contamination. To have certainty about the diagnosis, it is
necessary to contact a laboratory specialized in microbiological analyzes, preferably a ZOOPROPHYLACTIC
INSTITUTE (ZPI), which can also adequately perform a correct autopsy analysis.
10. MAINTENANCE CLEANING AND STORAGE AT THE END
OF THE CYCLE
Cleaning should only be undertaken with the power off and when the appliance is cold.
Do not immerse electrical components in water to clean them.
Dirt can cause damage to the appliance, to the incubation and to the people using it. Make sure both the
inside and outside of the incubator are clean.
At the end of the cycle, thoroughly clean the lower part of the incubator with neutral detergent rst, then
disinfect it with a chlorine-based disinfectant or some household bleach. Do not use alcohol or other chemical
detergents.
Thoroughly clean the lid exterior with a soft cloth, dampened with clean water and squeezed out.
The external part of the protection grill of the lid should be cleaned with a soft cloth moistened with a chlo-
rine-based disinfectant or some household bleach. Blow the internal part with compressed air to remove any
feathers dropped by the chicks.
During these operations the incubator and the egg turning unit must be unplugged.
Do not use solvents, diluents and toxic chemicals. Please refer to the chart at the end of this manual for the
list of the substances that would damage the plastic parts.
Allow all parts to dry thoroughly. Place the incubator in a dry place, safe from hits and changes in temperature.
Do not put any other object on top of it.
Maintenance of electrical parts and removal of the egg turning unit is not the responsibility of the
user, in case of need please contact the authorised service centre.
