Working
in the
same direction
as the
tools
It is
extremely dangerous
to
work
in the
same direction
as the
tools,
as the
operator
cannot
exert force
to
resist
the
strong movement
of the
piece
as the
tool comes into
contact
with
it.
Working
in the
same direction
as the
tools
is
absolutely forbidden, even when
a
support
is
used.
13.
Other machining
For
other types
of
work, e.g. tenoning, special gauges
or
supports
can be
used
in
order
to
avoid
accidents.
Use of
safety accesories
The
following
safety accesories
can be
used
to
help
the
operator during
his
work
:
-
supports
-
woodpushers
-
power feeders
-
rollers
-
stops

Noise reduction
a)
The
condition
of the
tools
is
important
to
keep
the
noise
level
as low as
possible.
b)
The
material
and the
position
of the
guards
is
important
to
reduce
the
noise level.
c)
Using
the
correct speed
will
reduce
the
noise level.
d)
What
is
mentioned above does
not
take away
the
fact
that
separate safety equipment must
still
be
used.
Explanation
of
accoustic
levels
The
values given
are the
output levels; these
are not
necessarily
the
levels
on
which
the
operator
can
work safely.
Although there
is a
link between
the
output
values
and the
safe
working levels,
it
cannot
be
used
in a
reliable
way to
determine wether supplementary measures should
be
taken.
