Pull out st arter cord approx.
50 em (19 in .) and hold pulley
with home -m ade retaining c li p
(1 ).
Take cl amping ring with clamp -
ing taper ou t of starter handle .
Withdraw clamping taper fr o m
clamping ri ng and detach cord .
Remove clamping ring and s ta r-
ter handle with stop from cord .
Remove retaining clip (1) a nd let
starter cord run back comp letely .
Carefu lly take out pulley with
coil
spri ng , taking care not to le t
coil spring jump out.
Take car e of disc (3, Fig. 41).
Remove cord from pulley.

Raise spr ing end to take out coil
spring .
Hold c oil spring firmly with both
thumbs (see illustration) and, by
raising each thumb, let out spring
on alternate sides.
Note:
Replace bush (2, Fi g. 42) only if
necessary , using the ex t ractor
shells (repa ir tool no. 19) .
Take care of tolerance ring 1n
bush (2 , Fig. 42).
Assembly

Before assembling, grease coil
spring with A ero - SHELL-Grease
14 and fill the 4 lubricating
grooves 1n the pulley wi th the
s ame lubricant.
Insert coil spring wi th end of
spr ing (2) in stud (1) and fit in
coil
by co il.
En su re th at the coil spr ing lies
flat a nd even .
Note :
For clo ckwise starting direction ,
in
se rt coil spring as s hown in il -
lus
tratio n, for anti - clockwis e di -
rection insert coil spring rever-
sely.
