the
idli
ng
adjust
ment
screw
so
far
back
that
it is
no
lon
ge
r in
contact
with t
he
butterfly
v
alve
lev
er
;
then
turn
the
screw
in
again
about
one
whole
turn,
so
that
the
butterfly
valve
is slightly
open
.
Now
s
ta
rt
the
eng
ine
and
all
ow it
to
warm
up
(open
the
choke
as
so
on
a s
the
engine
star
ts
up
).

Maintenance
of
the
carburettor
At
c
ert
ain
intervals
every
ca
r
bu
r
etto
r
must
be
disassembled,
cleaned
and
overhauled.
A
ll
exterior
dirt
sho
uld
be
cleaned
off
with
ga
·
soline
before
disassembl
y.
The
holes
,
ducts,
passage
s
and
jets
must
not
be
cl
ea
ned
with
hard
objects
(e. g.
wire
or
dr
il
l)
,
but s
hould
only
be
rinsed
with
gasoline
and
cl
eane
d with
compre
ssed
air
(remov
e
diap
hra
gms
b
ef
or
e
blow
ing
thro
ugh).
Before
asse
mbly
, check
that
a ll
carbur
ettor
components
(espec
i
ally
j
et
sea
ts
and
diaphragms)
are
in
proper
working
order.
Checking
and
cleaning
the fuel filter in
good
t
ime
he
lps
to
achieve
satisfactory
func-
tioning
of
the
carburettor
and
longer
engi
ne
service
life.
Special
maintenance
instructions
1. If
pump
failu
re
occurs
,
always
check
(bef
or
e
re
moving
the
pump
diaphragm)
the
impulse
pipelin
e
for
l
eakage
and
blockage.
2.
When
fitting
the
inlet
co
ntr
ol l
ever
and
the
compression
spring
(see
ill
ustration)
,
take
ca
re
t
hat
both
ends
of
the
spring
are
b
edded
in
the
spring
seats.
3.
The
compres
sion s
pr
ing mu
st
not
be
st
re
tc
hed
,
as
the
spr
ing
pr
essure
is
a
ccurat
e ly
adjusted
to
the
carburettor.
4.
The
inlet
control
lever
is
cor
-
rectly
insert
ed
whe
n it is
at
the
sa
me level as
th
e b
otto
m
of
"""""
the
diap
hragm
ch
amber
(see
arrows
on illus
tration).
5.
Th
e
inlet
needl
e should
close
just
when
the
inlet
con
trol le-
ver
is flush with t
he
bottom
of
the
chamb
er.
If
not,
the
lever
s
hould
be
adjusted
by
bend-
ing it a little (on
the
inlet
needle
si
de).
6. W
hen
assemb
ling the
carbu-
rettor,
make
sure th
at
main
diaphragm,
gasket
and
cast
-
ing
of
the
h
ousi
ng
are
care
-
fully in
serted
into
the
ea
st-
on
c
en
t
ering
pins; simila
rl
y,
the
gasket,
fuel
diaphragm
and
F
ig.

fuel
pump
body
are
adjus
ted
by
means
of
the
sa
me
ki
nd
of
cen
te
ring
pins.
The
gaskets
at
both
dia-
phragms
are
in
eac
h
ca
se
po
-
si
tion
ed
on
that
side
of
the
diaphragm
which
faces
the
carburettor
hou
sing.
