Changing crankshaft bearings
Heat crankcas e halves to about 100 ... 150 ° C (212 ... 302 ° f). Remove outer race of
bearing and crankshaft oil s se al s.
Ins
ert new outer race of rol ler beari ng into the warm c rankcase half un ti l th ey strike
a stop. Press in oil seal (with sealing lip i nwards ) un til th ey are flush.
Press in new
grooved ball bear ing into the warm crankcas e half on the magneto
side until it strikes a stop . Pr es s in crank shaft oil seal until flu sh only after the crank-
case halv es have been screwed toget her.

Removal of inner race
of roller bearing and
grooved ball bearing

Pull off inner race (1) a nd groov-
ed ba ll bearing (5) by means of
the appropriate extractor shells
(1 0 and 7) , clampin g rings (9 and
8) and w ithdrawal tool ( 11 ; re-
pair tool no. 17 to 23) .
Remove
comp ens ating washe rs
(2), shim (3) , s pace r (4) or spacer
bush.
