Starter
faults
When
fau
lts
arise
it
should
be
borne
in mind
that
t
he
ir
cau
se
n
ee
d
no
t n
ecessarily
lie
with
the
starter
itself,
no
r
in
the
poor
electrical
connection
of
the
vehicle
earthing
points,
but
also
in
the
fuel
sup
ply.
The
following
remedial
hints
are
limited
to
the
a
ctua
l s
ta
rt
er
system.
A.
When
the ignition
is
switched on,
the
armature
shaft does
not
rotate,
or
only
slowly:
l .
Battery
exhausted
.
2.
Battery
defective.
3.
Battery
terminals
loose,
oxidized,
ea
rth
connection
poor
.
4.
Starter
brushes
or
terminal
s
hav
e
ground
contact.
5.
Carbon
brushes
of
the s
ta
rt
er
do
not
lie
on
the
commutator,
are
j
ammed
in
their
guides,
are
worn,
broken
,
oil-smeared
or
soiled.
6.
Starter
switch
damaged
{

7.
Magnet
ic switch

starter
damaged
