PART 5. CONNECTING PSTN CIRCUITS
5.1 Safety Precautions
To prevent risk of personal injury, follow these precautions at all times when connecting PSTN
circuits.
ü The Protective Earth (PE) should be firmly connected to the system at all times.
ü Never install telephone wiring during periods when lightning may occur.
ü Never install telephone jacks in a wet location unless the jack is specially designed for wet
locations. Use extreme caution.
ü Never touch non-insulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been
disconnected at the network interface.
ü Use extreme caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
