1 Install the pin cap.
2 Conrm slot position.
Look inside hole in trim. Slot in chassis MUST be
horizontal, as shown.
Slot not horizontal? Gently insert pin into slot and rotate
to the left until it stops. Conrm the position again.

3 Install the pin.

PUSH HARD!
Pin MUST CLICK
into place.
4 Rotate the pin to the right, until it stops.

If you can easily
pull the pin out, it
is not clicked into
place. Make sure
it is clicked in
before rotating.
5 Remove the pin cap.
6 Install the interior knob/lever.
6a Push knob/lever
rmly into place.
6b Then
tighten set
screw.
7 Test the privacy function.

TEST WITH DOOR
OPEN to avoid
being locked in or
out!
7a Push the pin in until
it clicks. Try to
rotate the exterior
lever. It should not
move.
7b Use the emergency
unlock tool to
unlock the lock.
7c Did the pin remain
in the hole when
you unlocked the
lock? If not, go
back to step 1.
Make sure to push the pin all the way in during
step 3.

Installing the privacy pin changes the function of the lock
from non-locking to locking.
AFTER installing interior chassis and trim, but before
installing the knob/lever:

Install Pin Cap

Attach the pin cap to the privacy pin to prepare it for installation into the lock mechanism.

Install Privacy Pin

Insert the privacy pin firmly until it audibly clicks into place within the lock.

Rotate Pin to Stop

Rotate the installed privacy pin to the right until it reaches its stopping point.

Remove Pin Cap

Remove the pin cap after the privacy pin has been correctly installed and rotated.

Install Interior Knob/Lever

Push the interior knob or lever firmly into place and then tighten the set screw.

Test Privacy Functionality

Test Lock Operation

With the door open, push the pin and try to rotate the exterior lever to ensure it's locked.

Unlock with Emergency Tool

Use the emergency unlock tool to test the external unlocking mechanism.

Verify Pin Retention

Check if the privacy pin stays engaged after unlocking; if not, revisit step 1.
