(Measurement at high-voltage PWB check point)
4 Remove the rear cabinet.
5 Connect the digital multimeter to the grid voltage output check pin
(CP-GB).
6 Set the digital multimeter for the DCV range. (Use a digital multi-
meter which allows measurement up to DC 1000V.)
7 Turn the door switch ON by hand.
8 Turn the main switch ON. Execute SIM 8-02 (select all modes
from auto mode to printer mode) to check the output voltage.
Main charger grid voltage in each mode Output voltage
Auto 8-2 –490 ±5V
Manual 8-2 –490 ±5V
Photo 8-2 –490 ±5V
Soft-focus photo 8-2 –490 ±5V
Toner saving 8-2 –440 ±5V
Printer 8-2 –460 ±5V
9 If the output voltage is out of the specified range, adjust the output
voltage by changing the value being displayed (3 digits) (The
voltage varies 1 V for every 1 step.)
D. Adjusting separation charger output
This adjustment should be performed with the electrode sheet not
used.
1 Install both the DV unit and drum holder unit on the copier. Power
the copier ON.
2 Install both the separation charger unit and the drum holder unit
on the copier. All charger units should be installed on the copier.
3 Remove the rear cabinet.
4 Connect the digital multimeter to the SHVG output check pin
J501.
5 Set the digital multimeter for the DCV range.
6 Turn the door switch ON by hand.
7 Execute SIM 8-07. (SHVG turns on and stays on for about 30
seconds.)
8 During execution of the simulation, adjust the separation charger
output monitor voltage (bias voltage) for –400 ±10V with the
SHVG output adjustment knob VR-502.
(2) Precautions in maintaining high-voltage
charger unit
A. Main charger unit
1 Make sure the screen grid is free from twist, deformation or con-
tamination when installing it. Make sure it is securely settled in the
specified positioning groove.
