Full Race Unit installation manual part № “C-YF6
Please read carefully before attempting any use of this product!
To install the Full Race Unit you will have to:
1. Gain access to the fuel injectors (for best results refer to your motorcycle service
manual). Plug in the female connectors to the fuel injectors and the male connectors to the
bike's harness. You must connect each male and female connector pair to the same
corresponding cylinder no matter left to right or right to left!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure when plugging the connectors that you press them well enough
to lock, as this will provide sealed and reliable electrical connection, vital for the function of
the Full Race Unit. Find appropriate place for the Full Race Unit control box and route the
cables, they are high quality, automotive class, heat resistant cables but there is some care you
should take: Avoid moving parts as they might damage them, the best way is to follow other
cables from the bike's harnes, use the cable ties provided to fasten them. Make sure the place
for the Full Race Unit control box is away from heavy vibrations, heat and it is not constantly
exposed to rain and water.
Connect the single Yellow wire with the provided Posi-Tap terminal to the tachometer signal.
This is very important because the entire system will relay on this signal and if not provided
properly it will not function at all. Please look at the following pictures:

Overview

The Full Race Unit, identified as part № “C-YF6”, is an aftermarket device designed to enhance motorcycle performance through quick-shifting, launch control, and pit limiter functionalities. It integrates with the motorcycle's existing systems, including fuel injectors, tachometer signal, and speed sensor, to provide these advanced features.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Full Race Unit is to enable quick-shifting, allowing for clutchless upshifts by momentarily interrupting the engine's power delivery. This results in faster and smoother gear changes, particularly beneficial in racing or performance riding scenarios. Beyond quick-shifting, the unit also offers Launch Control, which assists riders in achieving optimal starts by managing engine RPMs during initial acceleration, and a Pit Limiter, which restricts the motorcycle's speed to a pre-set limit, typically used in pit lane areas.

Installation Overview:

The installation process involves several key steps:

  1. Fuel Injector Connection: Gaining access to the fuel injectors (referencing the motorcycle's service manual for best results), the female connectors from the Full Race Unit are plugged into the fuel injectors, and the male connectors are then connected to the bike's harness. Crucially, each male and female connector pair must be connected to the same corresponding cylinder, regardless of left-to-right or right-to-left orientation. Proper connection, ensuring the connectors are pressed firmly until they lock, is vital for a sealed and reliable electrical connection.
  2. Control Box Placement and Cable Routing: An appropriate location for the Full Race Unit control box must be found. The cables, made of high-quality, automotive-class, heat-resistant material, should be routed carefully. This involves avoiding moving parts that could damage them, ideally following other cables from the bike's harness, and using provided cable ties for fastening. The control box itself should be placed away from heavy vibrations, heat, and constant exposure to rain or water.
  3. Tachometer Signal Connection: A single yellow wire from the Full Race Unit is connected to the tachometer signal using a provided Posi-Tap terminal. This connection is critical as the entire system relies on this signal for proper function. The manual provides a Posi-Tap connector installation guide: do not strip the run wire; unscrew the big end cap counter-clockwise; insert the run wire into the big end cap slot; and screw the big end cap to pierce and provide the signal.
  4. Speed Sensor Connection: The Full Race Unit's male and female 3-way white connectors are connected to the speed sensor. This sensor is typically located on the upper crankcase, under the fuel pump. The OEM sensor connector may be black or white, depending on the motorcycle model.
  5. Ground Connection: The Full Race Unit requires a negative (ground) connection to power up. The single black wire from the unit is connected to the battery's NEGATIVE (-) lead.
  6. SP-Shift Sensor Installation: The original shift rod is removed and replaced with the SP-Shift Sensor, using the provided fitting rod(s). The sensor wire is then routed to the Full Race Unit control box and plugged in. During installation, it's essential to ensure all counter nuts are locked and that the sensor wire is not under tension when the gear lever is pressed all the way up and down. The rod and sensor are designed with DUAL THREADS (left and right hand) for universal fitting.

Important Technical Specifications and Usage Features:

  • Engine Interrupt Time (St): Adjustable from 45 to 140 milliseconds, with a default reset value of 60ms. This setting dictates the duration of power interruption during quick-shifts.
  • Shift Sensor Motion (SS): Allows selection between PUSH (PH) and PULL (PL) sensor motion, or AutoSelect. The default reset value is PUSH. Correct sensor motion is crucial for the quickshifter's operation.
  • Launch Control and Pit Limiter RPM Limits (Ad):
    • Launch Control (LC): When LC displays, the bike should be in 1st gear with the rear wheel rotating on a stand. The rider releases the clutch and accelerates to the desired RPM range, then presses the RB (right button). LC will flash 5 times to confirm settings.
    • Pit Limiter (PL): When PL displays, the rider accelerates the engine to the desired range, then presses the RB. PL will flash 5 times to confirm settings. The default reset value is disabled.
  • Launch Control Interrupt Range (Ar): Adjusts the number of combustion cycles for launch control: r1 (2 cycles), r2 (4 cycles), r3 (6 cycles). The default reset value is r2.
  • Shift Sensor Sensitivity (SC): Adjusts the sensor's sensitivity based on specified RPM ranges and force levels:
    • RPM Ranges: 1 (3000-5000), 2 (5000-7000), 3 (7000-9000), 4 (9000-11000), 5 (11000+).
    • Force Levels: A (low force), b (medium force), c (high force).
  • Quickshifter Threshold RPM: The quickshifter function activates only when the engine speed exceeds a minimum threshold, which is factory-set over 3000RPM and not adjustable.
  • Gearbox Pivot Arm Angle: The gearbox pivot arm must extend to 90 degrees with the shift rod to ensure equal force in both directions. Incorrect alignment can lead to the gearbox not reacting accordingly and missing gears.

Maintenance Features and Calibration:

  • Shift Sensor Calibration (nP, Ph, Pl): This procedure is required only when replacing an existing sensor.
    • nP: Awaiting signal from the sensor without any force applied.
    • Ph (Compression): Awaiting signal from the sensor at maximum compression. Apply full force to the gear lever without backing off until PH stops flashing.
    • Pl (Extension): Awaiting signal from the sensor at maximum extension. Apply full force to the gear lever without backing off until PL stops flashing.
  • Force to Reset Control Box: To reset the module to factory pre-set values, with everything connected and the ignition key ON (engine kill switch in RUN position, engine not running), press and hold the shift lever in the upshifting direction. The control box will display a counter from 1 to 9. Hold until 9 is reached.
  • Adjusting the Quickshifter: The Full Race Unit comes with optimal factory settings for the specific motorcycle make and model. It is recommended to test ride the bike before altering the St settings.
    • If the gearbox pushes back the shift lever or shifts feel rough/missed, the gearbox needs more time. Turn the adjuster clockwise.
    • If the motorcycle front dives too long or shifts feel slow, the shift time needs to be lowered. Turn the adjuster anticlockwise.
    • Best results are typically achieved with settings between 60ms-70ms.
    • Before changing factory settings, note the current Shift Time to have a reference point.
    • To switch off Full Race Unit functions, unplug the Shift Sensor from the control box.
