How to fix a Shindaiwa Brush Cutter that won't start?
- CcookstevenJul 26, 2025
If your Shindaiwa Brush Cutter engine won't start, first, ensure the ignition switch is in the “I” (ON) position. If it isn't starting, the spark plug could be the issue. Try cleaning and regapping the plug to 0.024 inch (0.6mm). If the plug is internally damaged or the wrong size, replace it with a Champion CJ8 or equivalent. Also, ensure you're using the correct fuel mixture: clean, fresh unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher, mixed with Shindaiwa Premium 2-cycle mixing oil at a 50:1 ratio. If the plug is wet, crank the engine with it removed, then reinstall it and try restarting. Check the fuel filter and vent, and replace if clogged. If the spark plug is loose, tighten it.
