100Mbps network
For a 100Mbps network, it is not possible to extend the line length with the 5-4-3 re-
peater rule. This is due to the faster speed.
The maximum number of repeaters in serial for 100Mbps Ethernet is 2.
5.2.2 Cable lengths
Optimally, you should use Cat. 6 twisted pair cable.
Note: the maximum cable length is 100 meters, installed as follows:
- 90 meters fixed installed cable (Horizontal cabling)
- 10 meters patch cables (both sides together)
The cable length for fibre optic depends on the Ethernet technology employed.
