4. Check for insulators that are cracked, broken, flashed over, etc.
5. Check for any visual damage to the hot parts, including the interrupter.
6. Check for loose or missing hardware, especially mounting and terminal pad bolts.
7. Visually inspect terminal pad area for corrosion and/or overheating.
NOTE: A thermal vision test of the entire switch installation, if equipment is
available, would be preferred in lieu of a visual inspection.
8. Refer to the latest ANSI C37.35 for additional recommendations. C37.35 is “IEEE guide
for the Application, Installation, Operation and Maintenance of High-Voltage Air
Disconnecting and Load Interrupter Switches”.
