3.6 Operating mode buttons
You use the operating mode buttons to:
•
Request a change to a specific operating state
•
Disable or enable the change of a specific operating state
(If, for example, the STOP mode button is active, you cannot switch the CPU to RUN via a
communication task configured in the TIA Portal or via the display)
The following table shows the meaning of the corresponding operation of the operating
mode buttons.

RUN RUN mode The CPU has permission to go to RUN.
STOP STOP mode The CPU does not have permission to go to RUN.
1. Press the STOP operating mode but

for the second time and remains con
tinuously lit (after three seconds).
