Following data types are used for storage of variables in Modbus
registers:
• Single-point indications
• Single commands
• Double-point indications
• Double commands
• Measured values (signed integer)
• Metered measurands (unsigned long)
Note
The storage of variables of more complex data types in the Modbus
holding registers (i.e. variables greater than one holding register, e.g.
metered measurands) is processed according to the following
convention:
The register which has the lower address contains the most significant
byte (MSB) of the variable and the register with the higher address
contains the least significant byte (LSB).
