Clearance
Fall clearance (Fig. II):
• Beforeuse,itisessentialtoverifytheclearancerequiredbeneaththeuser.This
clearancemustbesufcienttopreventtheuserfromhittingthegroundoranother
obstacle,intheeventofafall
Swing falls (Fig. III):
WARNING: Theforceofstrikinganobjectinaswingfallmaycauseseriousinjury
or death.
• Swingfallsoccurwhentheanchorageisnotlocateddirectlyabovethepointwhere
a fall occurs
• Minimiseswingfallsbyworkingascloseaspossibletotheanchorage
• DONOTenterasituationwhereaswingfallcouldoccur,ifitislikelytoresultin
aninjury
Note:Theriskofswingfallssignicantlyincreasestheclearancerequiredwhenusing
aself-retractinglifelineoranothervariablelengthconnectingsystem.
WARNING:Whenconnectorsarepoorlypositioned,theattachmentD-ringscould
actasaleveronthegateofakarabinerandsubsequentlydamageitwhensudden
tensioncomesontotherope.ALWAYSensureconnectorsremainsafelypositioned
during use.
Anchorage requirements (Fig. IV)
• Theminimumstrengthofanyanchoragemustbe10kN,accordingtoEN795
• Checkanchorageforsignsofdeterioration
• Aswithallfallarrestgear,anchoragesmustbesubjectedtoregularinspectionsby
acompetentperson.Inspectatleastonceeverythreemonthsandrecordndings
in a dedicated service record
• Checkthatthekarabineristhecorrectsizefortheanchoragetobeused.Ifthe
karabineristoosmall,useananchorslingtoconnecttotheanchorage
Anchorage position
• Theanchorageofthesystemshouldpreferablybelocatedabovetheuser’sposition
Use as part of a fall arrest system
• Anchoragesselectedforfallarrestsystemsshouldbecapableofsustainingastatic
load,appliedinthedirectionspermittedbythesystemofatleast:
• 22kNfornon-certiedanchorages
• 2xthemaximumarrestforceforcertiedanchorages
• Ifmorethanonesystemisattachedtooneanchorage,therequiredstrength
shouldbemultipliedbythenumberofsystemsattached
Removing the harness
1.Ensureyouarelocatedinasafeplaceawayfromanyfallhazards
2.OpenbothLegStrapBuckles(6)bypassingthethree-barslidethroughthesquare
link
3.OpentheChestStrap(2)buckle
4.Removeyourarmsfromtheharness
Note:Inspecttheharnessafteruse,andfollowinstructionsforcleaning,disinfection,
transport and storage as outlined in ‘Maintenance’.

Operation
Note:ThisequipmentmustONLYbeusedbycompetentoperators.Allusersmustbe
trained in its safe use. Inexperienced users must receive instruction prior to using this
equipment.Ariskassessmentmustbecarriedoutbeforeundertakinganyoperations
requiring fall arrest equipment.
WARNING: ALWAYSwearpersonalprotectiveequipmentappropriateforthework
areaandtypeofactivity,includingbutnotlimitedto,eyeprotection,gloves,hardhat,
protective shoes and hearing protection.
Note: Checkthecorrectttingandadjustmentatleastevery2hoursduringuse.

systemandensurevarioussystemcomponentsarecorrectlypositionedwithrespect
to each other.
Rescue plan
WARNING:Asuitableandsufcientriskassessmentmustbecarriedoutbefore
commencingwithanykindofworkatheight,oranyworkthatrequirestheuseof
personalprotectiveequipment(PPE)asacontrolmeasure.
• The user must have a rescue plan and the means at hand to implement it
• Theplanmusttakeintoaccounttheequipmentandspecialtrainingnecessaryto
effectivelyconductpromptrescueunderallforeseeableconditions

Maintenance
Note:Allfallarrestequipmentmustberegularlyinspected,cleanedandmaintained
byacompetentperson,inaccordancewithlocallawsandregulations.Maintenance
mustberecordedinadedicatedservicerecord(seeendofthismanual).
WARNING: Carryoutavisualandtactileinspectionofallcomponentseverytime
theequipmentisused.Carryoutadetailedexaminationiftheequipmenthasnot
been used for some time.
Note: Athorough,detailedexaminationoftheequipmentmustbecarriedoutat
regularintervals,atleastonceannually,ormorefrequentlydependingonuse.
WARNING:ItisILLEGALtocarryoutanykindofrepairormodicationtothis
equipment.
WARNING: Shouldanydamagebedetected,removetheequipmentfromservice
immediately.Itmustthenberenderedunusableanddiscarded.
Visual/tactile inspection
Thefollowingdefectspotentiallyresultindegradationand/orweakeningof
equipment components:
• Cutsof1mmormoreattheedgesofwebbing
• Surfaceabrasionacrossthefaceofthewebbing,atwebbingloopsandaround
the edges
• Damage to stitching
• Knotsotherthanthoseintendedbythemanufacturer
• Chemicalattackpotentiallyresultinginlocalweakeningandsoftening(often
indicatedbyakingofthesurface).Discolourationofthebresmayalsobepresent
• Heatorfrictiondamageindicatedbybreswithaglazedappearancewhichmay
feelharderthansurroundingbres
• UV-lightdegradationwhichcanbedifculttoidentify,particularlyvisually,but
theremaybesomelossofcolour(ifdyed)andapowderysurface
