Operation
4.3.1
For
AC
Line
Operation:
a.
Ensure
that
the
power
source
used
matches
the
requirements
of
the
Instrument
as
marked
on
rear
panel.
b.
Insert
the
plug
into
a
3-wire
power
outlet
which
conforms
to
the
latest
National
Electrical
Code.
The
460D
will
operate
with
or
without
battery
power.
When
the
460D
is
operating
on
the
AC
line
with
the
internal
battery
installed,
the
battery
is
be-
ing
“trickle”
charged.
4.3.2
For
460D
battery
operation
follow
this
procedure:
Do
not
operate
the
Instrument
with
cells
in
the
com-
pletely
discharged
state,
which
is
common
for
all
new
Cells
as
required
from
the
vendor.
(Paragraph
7.3.)
a.
Disconnect
the
AC
line
cord
and
set
the
POWER
switch
to
the
OFF
position.
Install
four
“D”
size
nickel-cadmium
cells
(not
supplied
with
Instrument).
Observe
polarity
as
shown
on
label
inside
battery
holder.
Re-assemble
case
and
turn
power
ON.
b.
Depress
the
DCV
function
and
20
(10А),
range
switches.
c.
Connect
a
test
lead
between
the
У-О
jack
and
the
BATTERY
TEST
jack.
The
reading
must
be
between
+4.7
volts,
or
if
the
display
does
not
emit
light,
either
the
battery
is
improperly
in-
stalled
or
recharging
is
required.
d.
If
the
battery
voltage
is
below
+4.7
volts,
or
if
the
display
does
not
emit
light,
either
the
battery
is
improperly
installed
or
recharging
is
required.
4.3.3
To
recharge
the
battery,
follow
this
procedure:
a.
Set
the
POWER
switch
to
the
OFF
position.
Connect
the
line
