Thecorrecttensionisanimportantfactorbecausetoo
littletensionortoomuchtensionwillcauseloose
stitchesorwillcausetheclothtopucker.Makeateston
asampleofclothandthreadthatyouintendtouse.
Aperfect,well-balancedstitch(illustration)willhave
locksbetweenthetwolayersoffabricwithnoloopson
toporbottomandnopuckering.
Toreducetension,turnthedialtoalowernumber.
Littletensionwillproducealoosestitch(illustration2),
withloopsinyourseam.Toincreasetension,turnthe
dialtoahighernumber.Toomuchtensionwillcausethe
fabrictopucker(illustration3).
Thecorrecttensionsettingwillproducesmoothand
evenstitcheswiththeneedleandbobbinthreads
lockingtheendsofthezigzagstitches(illustration4).
Toomuchtensionwillproduceatightstitch,whichwill
causetheclothtopucker.Toloosentensionturndialto
alowernumber.Toolittletensionwillproducealoose
stitch.Tightentensionbyturningdialtoahigher
number.
