  An abnormal result on your smartheart Blood Pressure Monitor may occur if the cuff was not positioned correctly or wasn't tight enough; in this case, apply the cuff properly and try taking a new measurement. Also, incorrect body posture during measurement could be the cause; review the ‘Taking a Measurement’ portion of this manual and attempt a new measurement. Speaking, excessive movement, or feeling angry, excited, or nervous during measurement can also lead to this issue; wait until you are calm, and remember not to speak or move during the measurement.

  If your smartheart Blood Pressure Monitor doesn't respond when the power button is pressed, even after loading new batteries, it could be due to incorrect operation or strong electromagnetic interference. To resolve this, remove the batteries, wait at least five minutes, then reinstall them and try taking a new measurement.
