Function Description
The M500 primarily functions as a DAC and a headphone amplifier. As a DAC, it converts digital audio signals from various sources into analog signals, which can then be output to a power amplifier, active speakers, or headphones. Its MQA decoding capability means it can fully unfold MQA audio files and streams, delivering the highest possible sound quality as intended by the artists and producers. The device supports a wide range of sampling rates and bit depths, including PCM up to 768kHz and DSD up to DSD512, ensuring compatibility with virtually all high-resolution audio formats.
The integrated headphone amplifier is designed with discrete components and high current output, providing a higher damping factor for better control over headphones. Usage Features

- Display Interface: The device features a 2.19-inch LG TFT LCD display, which offers higher light transmission and a longer service life. The main user interface shows crucial information such as the output indicator (Line out or Headphones out), volume level, input source, stream indicator, audio format indicator (Hi-Res Audio, MQA, or DSD), and the current sample rate. It also displays "NO SIGNAL" when unlocked or not connected, and "MUTING" when muted.
- Knob Control: A multi-functional knob on the front panel allows users to adjust volume, navigate menus (up/down), and select options (press to Menu/Enter). Holding the knob can also return to the previous menu or power the unit on/off.

The display also shows the original master recording's sampling rate when playing MQA files.

This menu allows users to select input sources (USB, OPTI 1, OPTI 2, COAX), output modes (LINE OUT or HP OUT – noting that line out supports both RCA and XLR), and various digital filters (Fast Linear, Slow Linear, Fast Minimum, Slow Minimum, Apodizing, Fast Hybrid, Brickwall). These filters are specifically for non-MQA PCM formats and allow users to fine-tune the sound to their preference. The menu also includes a dimmer setting (LEVEL 1 to LEVEL 9) for the display brightness and a system information page showing model name and version.
