PROBLEM LOOK FOR REMEDY
Rider drive belt slips.
Pulleys or belt greasy or oily. Clean as required.
Belt stretched or worn. See authorized service dealer.
Brake will not hold.
Brake components worn or
damaged.
See authorized service dealer.
Internal transmission
problem.
See authorized service dealer.
Rider steers or handles
poorly.
Steering linkage is loose. Check and tighten any loose connections.
Improper tire inflation. See Maintenance section.
PROBLEM LOOK FOR REMEDY
Mower will not raise.
Mower deck not properly
installed.
Unlock roll release rod(s).
Deck lift components
damaged.
See authorized service dealer.
Mower cut is uneven.
Mower not leveled properly. See Mower Adjustment.
Rider tires not inflated
equally or properly.
See Maintenance section.
Mower cut is rough
looking.
Engine speed too slow. See engine speed control to FAST.
Ground speed too fast. Decrease ground speed.
Blades are dull. Sharpen or replace blades. See Servicing the Mower Blades.
Mower drive belt slipping
because it is oily or worn.
See authorized service dealer.
Blades not properly fastened
to spindles.
See Servicing the Mower Blades.
Engine stalls easily with
mower engaged.
Engine speed too slow. Set engine speed control to FAST.
Ground speed too fast. Decrease ground speed.
Cutting height set too low. Cut tall grass at maximum cutting.height during first pass.
Discharge chute jamming
with cut grass.
Cut grass with discharge pointing toward previously cut area.
Excessive mower
vibration.
Blade mounting hardware is
loose.
Tighten to 50-60 ft-lbs (68-81 Nm).
Mower blades, spindles, or
pulleys are bent.
See authorized service dealer.
Mower blades are out of
balance.
Remove, sharpen, and balance blades. See Servicing the Mower
Blades.
Blade installed incorrectly. See authorized service dealer.
Excessive belt wear or
breakage.
Bent or rough pulleys. See authorized service dealer.
Using incorrect belt. See authorized service dealer.
Mower drive belt slips or
fails to drive.
Idler pulley spring broken or
not properly attached.
