MAINTENANCE
INSTRUCTIONS
TRACTION
DRIVE
BELT
ADJUSTMENT
Continued
Secure
stationary
idler
with
mounting
bolt.
Place
spark
plug
wire
onto
spark
plug.
Set
park
brake.
Start
Engine.
Visually
inspect
traction
drive
belt
for
movement.
When
properly
adjusted,
the
traction
drive
belt
should
not
have
any
movement
or
rotation
with
the
engine
running
and
park
brake
engaged.
Should
movement
be
present,
readjust
traction
drive
belt
to
release
belttension
as
described
in
previous
instructions.
BLADE
BELT
ADJUSTMENT
Move
tractor
to
a
firm,
level
surface.
Turn
engine
"OFP.
Raise
hood,
remove
spark
plug
wire
from
spark
plug
and
secure
wire
away
from
plug.
Move
blade
engagement
lever
down
to
"OFP.

Figure

Lower
deck
to
lowest
cutting
position
Check
front
to
rear
level.
CAUTION
If
deck
front
to
rear
level
is
not
correct,
this
could
cause
blade
belt
problems.

DECKS
Measure
length
of
blade
cable
extension
spring.
See
Figure
61.
Move
blade
engagement
lever
to
"ON".
Measure
blade
cable
extension
spring.
Spring
should
extend
1"
±1/8"
for
proper
belt
tension.
