Overview

This document describes the Sun Joe SPX3200 Electric Go Anywhere Pressure Washer, a device designed for residential medium-to-heavy duty cleaning tasks. It is suitable for cleaning boats, motorcycles, RVs, ATVs, trailers, decks, barbecues, siding, and patio furniture.

Function Description

The pressure washer operates by generating a high-pressure jet of water to remove dirt and grime. It is equipped with a pump encased in a shock-absorbing housing, a spray wand, and a non-slip handle grip for optimal user comfort and control. The unit is designed to be used with cold or lukewarm water, as higher temperatures can damage the pump. It is crucial to use only clean water, as dirty or gritty water, or water containing chemical products, can impair operation and shorten the machine's life.

A key feature of this pressure washer is its Total Stop System (TSS), which incorporates a micro-switch sensitive to water flow. When the trigger is released, water stops flowing through the pump, and the TSS automatically turns off the motor. This protects the pump from overheating, conserves energy, and prolongs the pump's life.

The pressure washer includes a detergent tank for applying cleaning agents. It is specifically designed for use with pressure washer-specific detergents like Sun Joe HOUSE + DECK WASH, SNOW FOAM AUTO WASH, or HEAVY DUTY CLEANER. The use of household detergents, acids, alkaline solutions, bleaches, solvents, flammable materials, or industrial-grade solutions is strictly prohibited as they can damage the pressure washer and the cleaning surface. When using detergent, the unit must not be set to a high-pressure setting. The detergent dial allows for adjustment of the suction volume of the detergent solution.

For safety, the unit is provided with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) built into the power cord plug, offering additional protection against electric shock. A thermal sensor protects the motor from overloading, allowing the machine to restart after a few minutes once it has cooled. The spray gun features a safety lock to prevent unintentional operation.

Usage Features

The pressure washer offers versatility in cleaning with its Quick-Connect nozzles, which easily snap onto the spray wand's collar. Five different nozzles are included, each designed for a specific spray pattern and cleaning intensity:

  • 0° intense-jet nozzle (orange): Delivers a high-pressure, pencil-point jet stream for heavy dirt deposits in small, concentrated areas, ideal for stubborn substances like tar and grease on concrete, or caked mud from equipment. Caution is advised to avoid damaging fragile surfaces.
  • 15° fan-tip nozzle (yellow): For intense cleaning on hard surfaces, including stripping paint, removing oil stains, grease, heavy mildew, and rust from steel. This nozzle should only be used on surfaces that can withstand high pressure.
  • 25° fan-tip nozzle (green): For cleaning home siding, brick patios, wood decks, driveways, or sidewalks. A small area should be tested first to avoid damage.
  • 40° wide-spray tip nozzle (gray): For cleaning items such as cars, trucks, boats, patio furniture, or lawn equipment.
  • Soap nozzle (black): For low-pressure detergent application to clean equipment, remove mildew and oxidation stains from houses, clean bricks, or degrease grimy surfaces. This is the only nozzle that works for detergent application.

To operate, the unit should be positioned as close as possible to the water supply, with the trolley wheel locks engaged to secure it. The washer must be used on a secure and stable horizontal surface. Before plugging in, ensure the unit is switched off and that the electrical supply voltage and frequency match the rating plate. The GFCI may require a reset upon initial plug-in. The water supply tap should be turned on completely, and the safety lock on the trigger gun should be disengaged to allow air to escape and discharge residual pressure before starting the machine. The ON/OFF switch (pressure select dial) allows selection between LOW (I) or HIGH (II) pressure settings.

When using detergents, the soap nozzle (black) must be installed. Detergent should be applied from the bottom to the top of the dry surface, as pre-wetting can dilute the detergent. It's important to allow the detergent to remain on the surface for a short time before rinsing, but not to let it dry, especially on painted surfaces. After detergent use, the tank must be drained and rinsed with clear water to prevent clogging of the injection system.

For rinsing, the appropriate nozzle should be selected based on the cleaning task. The process involves turning off the pressure washer, shutting off the water supply, pulling the trigger to release pressure, engaging the safety lock, and then connecting the desired nozzle.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and performance of the pressure washer. Before any maintenance, the unit must be disconnected from the power supply.

Cleaning the Adapter Filter and Nozzle:

  • The adapter filter should be checked and cleaned regularly to ensure good performance. It can be removed and rinsed with warm water to prevent foreign matter from clogging the pump.
  • The nozzle can be cleaned using the provided needle clean-out tool to remove dirt from the nozzle hole. Additional debris can be removed by back flushing water through the nozzle and spray wand from the garden hose end.

Storage:

  • The pressure washer must NEVER be stored outdoors or in locations where temperatures could fall below 32°F (0°C), as freezing can cause permanent damage to the pump, which is not covered by the warranty.
  • It should be stored indoors in a dry, covered area, away from heat sources that could dry out pump seals.
  • Before long-term storage, especially in freezing conditions, it is recommended to operate the pressure washer with a non-corrosive/non-toxic anti-freeze, pump saver, or pump protector.
  • Before reusing after anti-freeze treatment, the unit must be completely flushed with clear water to prevent damage to paintwork.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the machine refusing to start, fluctuating pressure, the machine stopping, pulsating, or not producing water. Solutions range from checking power supply and connections to cleaning nozzles and filters, or contacting customer service.

General Safety and Care:

  • Always keep the power cable away from heat, oil, and sharp edges.
  • Inspect electrical cords regularly for damage or wear.
  • Keep the machine on a stable, flat surface during operation, handling, transportation, and storage to prevent overturn.
  • In case of an accident or breakdown, switch off the machine immediately.
  • Do not allow the high-pressure hose to become kinked.
  • Disconnect all water connections before storing.
