Using as a DVD player
Note
Select the setting
correctly using
“DIGITAL OUT.”
Otherwise, either no
sound will come from
the speakers or else
strange sound will
come from the
speakers, affecting
your ears or causing
the speakers to be
damaged.
pDIGITAL OUT
Switches the outputting methods of audio signals
from the PCM/MPEG/DOLBY DIGITAL connector
on the side panel of the player.
D-PCM (Downmix PCM)
When the unit is connected to an audio
component without a built-in MPEG Audio
decoder or a built-in Dolby Digital (AC-3)
decoder.
If you play MPEG or Dolby Digital (AC-3) sound
tracks, the output audio signals are mixed down to
2 channels.
MPEG
When the unit is connected to an audio
component with a built-in MPEG Audio decoder.
If you play the Dolby Digital (AC-3) sound track,
the output signal is stereo.
DOLBY DIGITAL
When the unit is connected to an audio
component with a built-in Dolby Digital (AC-3)
decoder.
If you play the MPEG sound tracks, the output
signal is stereo.
MPEG/DOLBY DIGITAL
When the unit is connected to an audio
component with a built-in MPEG Audio/Dolby
Digital (AC-3) decoder.
The unit outputs the appropriate signals
automatically, when you play a DVD VIDEO.
pPARENTAL CONTROL
Set a password and playback limitation level when
you play DVD VIDEOs with playback limitation for
children. For details, see Limiting playback by
children (Parental Control) on the next page.
