Why is there sound interruption or noise with my Sony UTX-B40 Microphone system?
    • C
      Christopher HallNov 24, 2025
To resolve sound interruption or noise with your Sony Microphone system, ensure that the channel setting is the same on both the transmitter and tuner. Avoid using the same channel for two or more transmitters. If using multiple transmitters, configure them to different channels within the same channel group to prevent signal interference. Use channels separated by at least two channels (250 kHz). Also, adjust the output level on the tuner and the reference input level on the camcorder. Move the transmitter and tuner further apart, and turn off any unused tuners. If you are using a camcorder, be aware that beeping noises, crackling or squealing sounds, or hum noise can occur due to interference from the camcorder's media access, Wi-Fi, or LCD backlight. How to fix no sound on Sony Microphone system?
    • D
      daniel92Aug 23, 2025
If your Sony Microphone system isn't producing any sound, make sure the channel setting on the transmitter matches the tuner. Confirm the transmitter is on and reduce the distance between it and the tuner if the transmission output is weak. Ensure the transmitter is set to microphone input, not line level. The compander mode setting on both devices should be the same. Also, check if the transmitter is muted and change the MUTE SETTING if it is set to PTT HOLD.

If your Sony Microphone system is not turning on, ensure the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity. Replace low batteries with new ones. Clean any dirt from the battery terminals and the battery compartment with a cotton swab. If using battery power, make sure batteries are inserted and the power source is set to 'BATT ONLY'. If using the SMAD-P5, check that it is correctly connected to the camera or tuner and that the power supplies for the tuner and camera are correctly linked.

      wintersstevenAug 27, 2025
If there is no sound from your Sony Microphone system, verify that the channel setting is the same on both the transmitter and tuner. Confirm that the transmitter is on and reduce the distance between the transmitter and tuner. Ensure the transmitter is set to microphone input, not line level. The compander mode setting must be the same on both devices. Check if the transmitter is muted and release it by pressing the POWER/MUTE button. Review the MUTE SETTING menu and audio output connector settings. If using the SMAD-P5, ensure the Analog/Digital switch is correctly set. For microphones connected to the MIC INPUT, configure the microphone setting in the MIC SELECT menu to match the microphone type.

To resolve the issue of louder noise when connected with SMAD-P5 compared to the XLR-BMP conversion output cable on your Sony Microphone system, adjust the reference input level and reference recording level of the camcorder, or adjust the OUTPUT LEVEL on the tuner to set the appropriate audio level.
