Why the transmitter channel cannot be set with infrared transmission on Sony Microphone system?
    • M
      Melissa SmithSep 8, 2025
If you cannot set the transmitter channel with infrared transmission on your Sony Microphone system, reduce the distance between the infrared receptor on the transmitter and the infrared transmission port on the tuner to within about 20 cm (8 in.). Also, place the transmitter and tuner as close to each other as possible to avoid interference from other devices or direct sunlight.

Why is there sound interruption or noise in my Sony Microphone system?
    • S
      Samantha HayesAug 22, 2025
If you're experiencing interruption or noise with your Sony Microphone system, ensure that the channel setting on both the transmitter and tuner are the same. Also, avoid using two or more transmitters on the same channel. Refer to the frequency list on the provided CD-ROM to reconfigure the channel on each transmitter. The channel plan is set so that no signal interference occurs when two or more transmitters are used simultaneously. Set each transmitter to a different channel within the same channel group. Use channels separated by at least two channels (250 kHz).

Why does the RF indicator light up when the transmitter is off on my Sony Microphone system?
    • D
      Donald DavisSep 6, 2025
If the RF indicator on the tuner of your Sony Microphone system lights up even when the transmitter is off, jamming radio waves are being received. Set the channel on the tuner to one where the RF indicator doesn't light up, or use the Clear Channel Scan function to switch to a channel without interference. Then, set the transmitter to the same channel as the tuner. If using multiple transmitters, switch to a channel group that isn't affected.

Why do the batteries become drained quickly on Sony Microphone system?
    • A
      Andrew PetersonSep 3, 2025
If the batteries in your Sony Microphone system are draining quickly, replace them with new ones. Use alkaline batteries instead of manganese, as alkaline batteries last more than twice as long. Be aware that batteries drain faster in cold conditions.

What to do if the sound is distorted on Sony Microphone system?
    • W
      Wyatt WilliamsSep 1, 2025
If the sound from your Sony Microphone system is distorted, the attenuation level on the transmitter might be too low or set to 0; adjust it so the audio isn't distorted. Change the GAIN MODE setting if it's set to 15dB BOOST. The channel settings on the transmitter and tuner should match. Ensure you're using headphones with a stereo mini jack, not a monaural one.

Why is the sound so weak on my Sony Microphone system?
    • A
      Angela AguirreAug 30, 2025
If the sound from your Sony Microphone system is weak, the attenuation level on the transmitter might be too high; adjust it to an appropriate level. Also, check the volume on the amplifier or mixer and adjust it accordingly. Ensure the transmitter is set to microphone input, not line level. The compander mode setting on the transmitter should match the one on the tuner.

Why is the noise louder when connected with SMAD-P5 on my Sony UTX-B40 Microphone system?
    • P
      penachristopherAug 29, 2025
To resolve the issue of louder noise when connected with SMAD-P5 compared to the XLR-BMP conversion output cable on your Sony Microphone system, adjust the reference input level and reference recording level of the camcorder, or adjust the OUTPUT LEVEL on the tuner to set the appropriate audio level.

What to do if there is no sound from my Sony UTX-B40?
    • W
      wintersstevenAug 27, 2025
If there is no sound from your Sony Microphone system, verify that the channel setting is the same on both the transmitter and tuner. Confirm that the transmitter is on and reduce the distance between the transmitter and tuner. Ensure the transmitter is set to microphone input, not line level. The compander mode setting must be the same on both devices. Check if the transmitter is muted and release it by pressing the POWER/MUTE button. Review the MUTE SETTING menu and audio output connector settings. If using the SMAD-P5, ensure the Analog/Digital switch is correctly set. For microphones connected to the MIC INPUT, configure the microphone setting in the MIC SELECT menu to match the microphone type.
