6. Warm up the engine in idling speed.
7. Make sure that there are no persons or obstacles in the
danger area around the vehicle.
8. Release the parking brake.
9. • Automatic transmission equipped vehicle
Keep the brake pedal depressed and shift into the
“-D+”
position. Make sure that the position indicator of “D1”
comes on. Slowly release the brake pedal to begin
moving.
• Manual transmission equipped vehicle
Keep the brake pedal and clutch pedal depressed and
shift into the
“1” position. Release the brake pedal and
gradually depress the accelerator while slowly releasing
the clutch to begin moving.

4. • Diesel engine equipped vehicle:
Insert the ignition key into the key cylinder and turn it to
the
“ON” position without depressing the accelerator
pedal. As soon as the glow indicator (
) goes out, turn
the key to the
“START” position to start the engine.
• Gasoline engine equipped vehicle:
Turn the ignition key to “ON” position and check the ap-
propriate warning lights are operating.
5. Release the key when the engine starts. If your vehicle is
equipped with a manual transmission and is engaged
at neutral (N), it is ok to release the clutch pedal when
the engine runs.
