STARTING THE ENGINE AND DRIVING OFF THE VEHICLE
1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Make sure that there are no persons or obstacles in the
dangerous area around the vehicle.
3. • Automatic transmission equipped vehicle
Move the selector lever to the
“P” position and depress
the brake pedal.
• Manual transmission equipped vehicle
Move the gearshift lever to the Neutral position and fully
depress the brake pedal and the clutch pedal.
Foot operated type
Hand operated type
Depress the brake pedal when the selector lever is at the “P”
position. Never depress the accelerator pedal.
WARNING
A/T
The engine with an automatic transmission equipped in a vehicle
can be started only when the selector lever is at the “P” or “N”
position. The engine with a manual transmission equipped in a ve-
hicle can be started only when the clutch pedal is fully depressed.
Do not turn the ignition key to the “START” position while the
engine is running. It could result in serious start motor damage.
