Perform This Safety Check on Each Automatic Sliding Door Each Day
And After Any Power Outage or Generator Test
SLIDEDOORSYSTEMSWITHELECTRONICCONTROLS
1. Check electronic sensor by walking toward the door opening fromseveralangles.
Thedoorshouldstartopeningwhenyouareaboutfivefeetfromthedoor.Thedoor
shouldslideopensmoothlyandstopwithoutimpact.Repeatontheothersideofthe
opening.
2. Step out of the sensor zone. After a brieftime delay, the door should slide closed
smoothlyandfullywithoutimpact.
3. Remain motionless at the side of the door with the door closed and cover the
doorwayholdingbeamwithyourhand.Thedoorshouldopenfully.

If your sliding door is equipped with an Overhead Threshold Safety System, check the
followingcomponentsdaily:
InsideandOutside ApproachActivationSensors‐Bothsensorsshouldbein
placeandshould operateasdescribedinsteps1and 2 underElectronicControls. For
“one way” traffic applications, one of the sensors will shut off when the door is fully
closed.Thesensorshouldturnonwhentheoppositesidesensoractivatesthissystem.
OverheadThresholdSafetySensor–TheOverheadThresholdSafetySensoris
mountedonthealuminumenclosuredirectlyabovethedooropening.Itsensespresence
inthethresholdzone.Thiszonecoversthefullwidthofthedooropeningand extends
approximately10”oneithersideofthethreshold.
Totestthesystem:
1. Walktowardsthedooropeningfromseveralangles.Thedoorshouldstartopening
whenyouareabout five feetfromthedoor.Thedoor should slideopensmoothly
andstopwithoutimpact.
2. Whenthedoorstartstoopen,theStan‐Guardsensorwillbeactivated.Walkintothe
thresholdareaandstop.AredindicatorlightontheStan‐Guardwillturnoffwhen
thecontrolsenses you.Stand inthethreshold zoneforseveral seconds.Thedoor
should remain open. Continue on through the opening and walk at least five feet
fromthedoor.Afterabriefdelay,thedoorshouldclose.
3. Turn and repeat the above zone tests by approaching the door from the opposite
direction.
DOORSANDFRAMES
1. Checkthedoorareafortrippingandslippinghazards.
2. Check all door panels for broken or cracked glass. There should be no bulletin
boards,literatureracks,merchandisedisplays,orotherattractionsinthedoorarea
wherepeoplecouldbehitbythedoor.
3. Doorshouldhavesafetydecalsproperlydisplayed.
