: Put the unit on the ground:
It must rest securely on the
underside of the engine and the
deflector. Check that the cutting tool
is not touching the ground or any
other obstacles.
: Make sure you have a firm footing:
Hold the unit with you left hand and
press it down firmly.
: Pull the starter grip slowly with your
right hand until you feel it engage –
and then give it a brisk strong pull.
Do not pull out the starter rope all
the way – it might otherwise break.
Do not let the starter grip snap back
– guide it slowly into the housing so
that the starter rope can rewind
properly.
When the engine begins to fire:
: Turn choke knob clockwise, away
from g.
: Press decompression valve button
again and continue cranking.
As soon as the engine runs:
: Blip the throttle trigger (2) –
the slide control (3) moves to the
run position # and the engine
returns to idle speed.
Make sure the carburetor is
correctly adjusted – the cutting tool
must not rotate when the engine is
idling.
Your machine is ready for operation.
To shut down the engine:
: Move the slide control to 0 c.
At very low outside temperatures:
Allow engine to warm up
As soon as the engine runs:
: Blip the throttle trigger – the slide
control moves to the run position #
and the engine returns to idle
speed.
: Open the throttle slightly. Allow
engine to warm up for a brief period.
Change over to winter mode if
necessary – see chapter "Winter
Operation".
If the engine doesn’t start:
Tank has been run until completely dry
and then refueled:
: Press fuel pump bulb at least
5 times – even if bulb is filled with
fuel.
: Now start the engine.
If you did not turn the choke knob away
from g quickly enough after the engine
began to fire, the combustion chamber is
flooded.
