N Pull out the starter rope about 15 cm
and hold the rope rotor steady.
N Take three turns off the rope rotor.
N Pull the rope out with the starter grip
and keep it under tension – then let
go of the rope rotor.
N Slowly release the starter rope until
it goes slack.
The rewind spring is no longer under
tension when the starter rope is not
wound completely onto the rope rotor
and can be unwound by hand.
Removing the Rope Rotor
N Loosen screw (1) on carrier (2).
N Carefully pull the carrier (2) off the
rope rotor (3).
N Carefully remove the rope rotor (3).
WARNING
The rewind spring may pop out and
uncoil during this operation – take care
to avoid the risk of injury.
Replacing a Broken Starter Rope
N Pry the cap out of the starter grip.
N Remove the remaining rope from
the rotor and starter grip.
N Thread the new rope through the
starter grip and tie a simple
overhand knot.
N Pull the knot back into the grip.
N Refit the cap in the grip.
