What to do if my Stihl MS 462 C-M has a burning smell?

If you notice smoke or a burning smell while cutting with your Stihl chainsaw, several factors could be responsible. The chain might not be properly sharpened, so sharpen the chain properly. Check if there is insufficient chain oil in the tank and fill it up with chain oil. The chain lubrication system may be supplying insufficient chain oil, so increase the oil feed rate. It's also possible that the chain is over-tensioned, so tension the chain properly. Finally, the chainsaw might not be used properly, so have the correct use explained, then practice.
