Why does my Stihl MS 462 C-M have a burning smell?

If you notice smoke or a burning smell while cutting with your Stihl chainsaw, consider the following possible causes: * The chain might not be properly sharpened, so sharpen it. * There might be insufficient chain oil in the tank, so fill it up. * The chain lubrication system might not be supplying enough oil, so increase the oil feed rate. * The chain might be over-tensioned, so tension it properly. * The chainsaw might not be used properly, so have its correct use explained and then practice.
