TS 460
: Slip the rope rotor onto the starter
post and turn it back and forth a little
until the anchor loop of the rewind
spring engages
: Replace the pawl (5) in the rope
rotor
: Place the washer (4) on the starter
post
: Press the spring clip (3) onto the
starter post and over the peg of the
pawl with a screwdriver or suitable
pliers – the spring clip must point to
the right (clockwise direction) – see
illustration
Tensioning the rewind spring
: Make a loop in the unwound starter
rope and use it to turn the rope rotor
six full revolutions counterclockwise
(see arrow)
: Hold the rope rotor tight – pull out
the twisted rope and untangle it
: Release the rope rotor
: Slowly let go of the starter rope so
that it is wound up on the rope rotor.
The starter handle must be drawn
firmly into the rope guide bush. If it
tips sideways: increase the spring
tension by another turn
: It must be possible to turn the rope
rotor on another half-turn when the
rope has been drawn out
completely. If this is not possible,
the spring has been tensioned too
tightly and may break. Remove
one turn of the rope from the rotor
: Refit the starter cover
: Press the remainder of the rope into
the handle until the nipple (7) is
flush with the handle
Replacing a broken rewind spring
: Remove the rope rotor as described
under "Replacing the starter rope"
: Remove the spring housing and
spring parts
