SECTION 2 - SERVICING PASSENGER STAIRWAY
2.3.1 | Hydraulic Pressure Relief Valve
Adjustment
The hydraulic pressure relief valve is adjustable and is located on the
hydraulic control valve (Figure 2.3.1). Adjust as follows:
1. Extend the stairway to the maximum.
2. Adjust relief so the A-frame will just lift (clockwise to increase
pressure).
3. Turn the relief adjustment 1/4 turn clockwise and lock.
2.3.2 | Flow Control Valve Adjustment
To adjust the A-frame or stairway ow control, proceed as follows; (two
people make the task easier).
1. Raise A-frame (or stairway).
2. Adjust ow control 1/8 turn (clockwise for slower).
3. Operate the directional valve to lower the A-frame (or stairway).
4. Continue to adjust until cylinders retract at the desired rate.
2.3.3 | Stairway Clearance Adjustment
Bolts
Bolts on the sides of the stairway (Figure 2.3.3) may be used to increase
or decrease the clearance between the upper and lower stairs by
tightening or loosening plastic bearing surfaces between the stairs
sections.
This adjustment is necessary only if there is excessive lateral (side-to-
side) motion of the upper stairway when it is being raised and lowered.
1. To decrease clearance between the stair sections, tighten the
bearing surfaces by turning the bolts inward a short distance. It
is recommended that all bolts on one side be tightened an equal
distance. Adjust bolts on the opposite side only if there is still too
much lateral travel.
2. To increase clearance, rotate the bolts outward a short distance.
