SECTION 2 - SERVICING PASSENGER STAIRWAY
2.4.1 | Stair Assembly
2.4.1.1 | Removal
1. Remove Canopy (If equipped).
2. Remove the platform side panels (elephant ears) as follows.
• Remove the rear-stop bolts.
• Remove the oor-mounted side panel locks.
3. Disconnect electrical harnessing from stairway lights.
4. Remove the left and right upper stairs section side panels as
follows:
• Remove the top bolts (3 on each side) holding the side panels to
support bracket.
• Slide the panel rearward until guide rollers disengage from the
top angle.
• Lift the side panels clear of the stairs.
5. Disconnect and cap the hydraulic lines from the stairway extend
cylinder.
6. Attach overhead hoist chain to upper end of stairway and put slight
tension on chain.
7. Raise the stairs slightly to remove weight from A-frame attaching
pins.
8. Remove roll pins from upper A-frame mounting pins and loosen set
screws on mounting pin lock collars.
9. Slide mounting pins out from A-frame attaching brackets.
10. Using the hoist, raise the assembly until the weight is removed from
the lower stairway attaching shaft.
11. Remove roll pins from attaching shaft and loosen set screws on
attaching shaft lock collars.
12. Remove attaching shaft from stairs and A-frame. This also
disconnects the lower end of the stairway extend cylinder.
13. Secure lower end of stairway extend cylinder to stairway.
14. Using hoist, raise stairway until it is clear of chassis.
15. Move chassis forward and away from the stair assembly.
16. Place stairway on supports so that the stairway is horizontal and
the platform support frame is clear of the oor. Supports should be
approximately 6 ft. high.

1. Attach overhead hoist chain to upper end of lower stairs section at
