wait for the next start signal.
SHUTDOWN SEQUENCE
Upon a compressor/EMS 547 generated shutdown,
the shutdown output to the RUN ENABLE (CAT ECM
and MDDM) will be de-energized to shutdown the
engine, and the compressor warning/shutdown light
will be turned on. If the CAT ECM shuts down the
engine, the EMS 547 will sense that by the input tied
to the Warning light driven by the CAT ECM.
In the case of an EMS 547 generated shutdown, the
cause of the shutdown will be displayed on the
second line of the EMS 547 display.
The EMS 547 controller can be RESET by pressing
and momentarily holding the RESET push button.
After the shutdown has been RESET the RUN
ENABLE (CAT ECM and MDDM) relay is re-
energized.
If the CAT ECM causes the engine to shutdown the
status line will read “STS: CAT SD”, the RUN
ENABLE (CAT ECM and MDDM) relay will remain
ON until the user does a RESET
On all other shutdowns, power is cut to the CAT ECM
and the MDDM and power will remain off until the
reset button is pressed and released. Once the reset
button is released, there will be a delay of several
seconds before the CAT ECM and the MDDM regain
power.
ALARM SEQUENCE
Unlike a shutdown, an alarm condition will alert an
operator but will not shutdown the engine.
When an alarm condition exists, the cause of alarm
will be displayed on the EMS547 screen. The
compressor warning light will be turned on. This is a
common warning light. The operator can press the
reset push button to reset the alarm if the alarm
condition has been cleared.
NOTE
Only on a CAT generated shutdown will the
CAT ECM and the MDDM stay powered. When
the reset button Is pressed, power Is broken to
the CAT ECM and the MDDM.
