TROUBLESHOOTING
SYMPTOM PROBABLE CAUSE REMEDY
COMPRESSOR WILL NO T START Main Disconnect Switch Open Close switch.
Line F use Blown Replace fuse.
Control Transformer Fuse Blown Replace f use.
Motor Starter Overloads Tripped Reset. Should trouble persist, check
whether motor starter contacts are
functioning properly.
Low Incoming Line Voltage Check voltage. Should voltage check low ,
consult power company.
COMPRESSOR SHUTS DOWN Low Incoming Vol tage Consult power company
WITH AIR DEMAND PRESENT
Excessive Operating Pressure Defect in pressure switch; check pressure
at which contact points open.
Discharge Temperature Switch O pen Cooling air flow restricted; clean cooler and
check for proper ventilation.
Ambient temperature is too high; provide
sufficient ventilation.
Low fluid level; add fluid.
Clogged filter; change the fluid filter
element.
Thermal valve not functioning; replace
element.
Defective discharge temperature switch;
check for a short or open circuit to probe
and correct wiring.
COMPRESSOR WILL NOT BUI LD Air Demand Is Too Great Check service lines for leaks or open
UP FULL DISCHARGE PRESSURE valves.
Dirty Air Filter Check filter and change element if
required.
Pressure Regulator Out Of Ad just regulator according to control
Adjustment adjustment instructions in Section 6,
Maintenance.
Defective Solenoid V alve A normally open solenoid must energize to
load compressor; check for proper
operation.
LINE PRESSURE RISES ABOVE Defective Solenoid Valve Repair solenoid valve (see Section 6).

Leak In Control System Causing Check f or leaks.
Loss Of Pressure Signals
Defective Pressure Switch Check that diaphragm and contacts are not
damaged. Replace if necessary.
Inlet Valve Stuck Open Inspect inlet valve and insure free operation
(see Section 6).
EXC ES SIVE CO MPRESSOR C logged Return L ine Remove element cover and clean orifice.
FLUID CONSUMPTION
Separator Element Damaged Or Change separator element.
Not Functioning Properly
Leak In The Lubrication System Check all pipes, connections and
components.
Excess Fluid Foaming Drain and change.
Fluid Level Too High Drain excess.
Shaft Seal Failure Replace shaft seal.
