SECURING YOUR CHILD IN THE INFANT CARRIER
CHECK STEP:
- MAKE SURE the straps are snug, lie at, and not twisted.
If you can pinch a fold in the strap it is not snug.
- Harness Tightness Test. To test for a properly tightened
harness, pinch the shoulder strap. A snug harness
should not allow you to pinch any slack when pinched
between your thumb and forenger. If needed, pull
adjuster strap further for a tight and proper t.
- MAKE SURE child’s head is 1” (2.5 cm) below the
top of the seat.
- NEVER secure child in infant carrier dressed in a bulky garment
or heavy clothing, it may interfere with tightening the harness.
- If the harness covers don’t allow a proper t, they can be
removed to provide more space for the chest clip. Unfasten
harness covers and remove.
Minimum 1 inch (2.5 cm)
