How to fix Sunnen Power Tool stone not cutting?
    • C
      Catherine BlakeAug 13, 2025
If the Sunnen Power Tool's honing dial needle moves too slowly, indicating the stone isn't cutting, it might be due to stone glazing or loading. Try dressing the stone, increasing the cutting pressure or stroking speed, using a softer stone, or checking the coolant.

How to improve rough finish with Sunnen LBB-1660?
    • M
      Michael WhiteAug 25, 2025
If your Sunnen Power Tool is producing a rough finish, it could be due to improper feed, a mandrel that isn't trued, an improper stone, improper or diluted coolant, or soft/exotic materials. Try decreasing the cutting pressure, truing the stone and shoes to the exact hole diameter, and using a finer stone. Also, check the coolant and consider using a bronze mandrel or bronze shoes.

Why does my Sunnen LBB-1660 cause scratches in bore?
    • M
      Matthew HolmesAug 28, 2025
If your Sunnen Power Tool is causing scratches in the bore, it may be due to improper feed, stone, or mandrel, or improper/diluted coolant. Try decreasing the cutting pressure, using a finer or softer stone. If you're using a hard steel mandrel, switch to a soft steel one, or if you're using a soft steel mandrel, switch to a bronze one. Ensure you check the coolant as well.

How to correct bellmouth in Sunnen LBB-1660 Power Tool (bore longer)?
    • K
      Kevin HayesSep 1, 2025
For a bellmouth issue in your Sunnen Power Tool where the bore is longer than 2/3 the stone length, ensure the mandrel is trued and that the part isn't short or unbalanced. Also, check if the stone is appropriate and of the correct length. Try truing the stone and shoes, shortening the stroke length, using a softer stone, and slightly shortening the stone on each end.

Also, check if the stone is appropriate and of the correct length. Try truing the stone and shoes, shortening the stroke length, using a softer stone, and shortening the stone and shoes equally to 1-1/2 times the bore length.

What causes out-of-round issues with Sunnen LBB-1660 Power Tool?
    • S
      Steven HernandezSep 8, 2025
If your Sunnen Power Tool is producing out-of-round results, it could be due to an undersized honing tool, a mandrel that isn't true, workpiece flexing (thin wall), or an improper stone. Try changing the honing tool, truing the stone and shoes, decreasing the cutting pressure, and using a softer stone.
