How to fix a Superior DRT2000 Indoor Fireplace spark igniter that won't light the pilot?
    • A
      Andrew SellersAug 15, 2025
If the spark igniter on your Superior Indoor Fireplace isn't lighting the pilot, here's what you can check: First, see if there's a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark, and the electrode wire is connected correctly, the igniter might be defective and need replacement. If there is a spark, try lighting the pilot with a match. If it lights, the gas mixture may be off, requiring a longer purge period. If it still doesn't light, check the gap at the electrode and pilot; it should be about 1/8 inch for a strong spark. If the gap is correct, the pilot might need to be replaced. Also, make sure the gas supply pressure is within the limits specified on the rating plate. Finally, the pilot orifice could be plugged, so try cleaning or replacing it.

Why does nothing happen when I turn my Superior DRT2000 on or off?
    • P
      Phillip OlsonAug 21, 2025
If nothing happens when you turn your Superior Indoor Fireplace ON or OFF, check these items: First, make sure the wall switch plate is set to REMOTE if you're using a remote. Next, ensure that gas is reaching the fireplace by checking the gas supply and gas shutoff valves. Finally, verify the unit is receiving power by checking or replacing the backup batteries behind the wall plate.

What to do if Superior DRT2000 burner won't light but igniter sparks?
    • J
      John LeAug 25, 2025
If the main burner on your Superior Indoor Fireplace isn't lighting even though the igniter is sparking, check the following: First, ensure that gas is reaching the fireplace by checking the gas supply and shutoff valves. Also, inspect the control compartment for any loose wiring to the valve or ignition module; if you see any loose wires, it's best to call a service technician. Additionally, there might be air in the gas line, which would require purging (it's recommended to call a service technician for this). Finally, make sure the unit is receiving power by replacing the unit's battery backup.

Why does my Superior Indoor Fireplace burner light then go out?
    • D
      Dennis WeaverAug 28, 2025
If the main burner on your Superior Indoor Fireplace comes on but then goes out, consider these potential issues: First, check that gas is consistently reaching the fireplace by inspecting the gas supply and shutoff valves. Also, examine the control compartment for any loose wiring to the valve or ignition module; if you find any, it's recommended to call a service technician. If the pilot flame is not engulfing the sensor or if there is an obstructed vent system, call a service technician.

Why does my Superior DRT2000 Indoor Fireplace pilot/burner frequently go out?
    • J
      Jessica BurkeAug 31, 2025
If you're experiencing frequent pilot or burner outages with your Superior Indoor Fireplace, it could be due to the pilot flame being too low or blowing too high. This can cause the pilot/valve safety to shut off. Try cleaning and/or adjusting the pilot flame to ensure maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple.

    Carrie SmithSep 4, 2025
Why won't the pilot light stay lit on my Superior DRT2000?
    • R
      Rachel UnderwoodSep 4, 2025
If the pilot light on your Superior Indoor Fireplace won't stay lit even after carefully following the lighting instructions, the issue might be a defective pilot generator (thermocouple). Ensure the pilot flame is properly impinging on the thermocouple. Clean and/or adjust the pilot for maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple. Also, check that the connection between the valve and thermocouple is tight and secure.

Why is there soot on the logs and glass of my Superior DRT2000?
    • S
      Sara EvansSep 7, 2025
If you notice soot on the logs and glass of your Superior Indoor Fireplace, here are some possible causes and solutions: * Excessive flame impingement on the logs: Properly position the logs. * Initial fireplace operation: A white film may develop on the glass during the first few fires. Clean the glass after each use (after it has completely cooled). * Improper vent restrictor setting: Open the air shutter by adjusting the air shutter adjustment lever. * Improper air shutter opening: Open the air shutter by pushing in the rod.

Why is the flame on my Superior DRT2000 poor or blue?
    • M
      Melissa BarnesSep 12, 2025
If you're seeing a poor flame or a blue flame in your Superior Indoor Fireplace, it could be due to a door seal that is not properly aligned. This can cause gaps and air leaks. Try removing and realigning the door to ensure the gasket seal is fully engaged around the door frame.

What to do if Superior DRT2000 pilot is lit but burner won't ignite?
    • A
      aimee44Nov 17, 2025
If the pilot light is on, but no gas is reaching the burner on your Superior Indoor Fireplace, and the valve knob and burner switch are both in the ON position, consider these possibilities: First, the wall switch or its wiring might be faulty. Check the wall switch and wires for proper connections. You can bypass the wall switch by using a jumper wire across its terminals. If the burner then comes on, the wall switch is defective and needs replacing. If that's not the issue, try bypassing the wall switch wires at the valve with a jumper wire. If the burner comes on, the wires are faulty or have bad connections. Another cause might be that the thermopile isn't generating enough millivolts. Use a millivolt meter to check the thermopile terminals on the gas valve. It should read at least 325...
