Why does my Superior DRT2035 Indoor Fireplace have poor flame and/or blue flame?
    • W
      William KnoxSep 3, 2025
A poor or blue flame in your Superior Indoor Fireplace can be caused by a door seal that is not properly aligned, leading to gaps and air leaks. Remove and realign the door to ensure the gasket seal is fully engaged around the door frame.

Why is there soot on the logs and glass of my Superior Indoor Fireplace?
    • R
      Robert LeeSep 17, 2025
If you notice soot on the logs and glass of your Superior Indoor Fireplace, it could be due to several reasons. First, excessive flame impingement on the logs may be the cause; ensure the logs are properly positioned as detailed on Page 54. A white film may develop on the glass during the first few fires as part of the burn-in process, in that case, clean the glass after each use (AFTER THE GLASS HAS COMPLETELY COOLED). Also, check the vent restrictor setting and adjust the air shutter adjustment lever according to the instructions in this manual. Finally, make sure the air shutter is properly opened by pushing in the rod.

Why does the main burner on my Superior Indoor Fireplace turn on and then go out?
    • C
      Cindy SalazarSep 15, 2025
If the main burner on your Superior Indoor Fireplace comes on but then goes out, first check the gas supply and gas shutoff valves to ensure gas is reaching the fireplace. Also, check the control compartment for any loose wiring to the valve or ignition module (it is recommended to call a service technician). Other potential causes, which require a service technician, include the pilot flame not engulfing the sensor or an obstructed vent system.

Why does my Superior Indoor Fireplace pilot/burner frequently go out?
    • K
      Kevin AlexanderSep 13, 2025
If you're experiencing frequent pilot/burner outages with your Superior Indoor Fireplace, the pilot flame may be too low or too high, causing the pilot/valve safety to drop out. Try cleaning and/or adjusting the pilot flame to ensure maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple.

    Christopher MaddenSep 12, 2025
What to do if nothing happens when I turn my Superior Indoor Fireplace on or off?
    • F
      Frank WallaceSep 12, 2025
If nothing happens when you turn your Superior Indoor Fireplace ON or OFF, first check that the wall switch plate is set to REMOTE. Then, check the gas supply and gas shutoff valves to ensure gas is reaching the fireplace. Finally, check or replace the backup batteries behind the wall plate to ensure the unit is receiving power.

Why won't the pilot light stay lit on my Superior Indoor Fireplace?
    • J
      James WilliamsSep 10, 2025
If the pilot light won't stay lit on your Superior Indoor Fireplace, even after following the lighting instructions, the issue might be a defective pilot generator (thermocouple). Check that the pilot flame is properly hitting the thermocouple. Clean and/or adjust the pilot to ensure maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple. Also, make sure the connection between the valve and thermocouple is tight and secure.

What to do if the main burner doesn't light on my Superior Indoor Fireplace but the igniter is sparking?
    • C
      chelseaestradaSep 8, 2025
If the igniter is sparking but the main burner on your Superior Indoor Fireplace isn't lighting, start by checking the gas supply and shutoff valves to ensure gas is reaching the fireplace. Then, inspect the control compartment for any loose wiring to the valve or ignition module; if you find any loose wires, call a service technician. Also, there might be air in the gas line, which would require purging (it is recommended to call a service technician). Finally, make sure the unit is receiving power by replacing the unit's battery backup.

What to do if the spark igniter won't light the pilot on my Superior Indoor Fireplace?
    • E
      erica12Sep 5, 2025
If the spark igniter on your Superior Indoor Fireplace isn't lighting the pilot, there could be several reasons. First, check for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark, and the electrode wire is properly connected, the igniter may be defective and needs replacement. If there is a spark, try lighting the pilot with a match. If it lights, the gas mixture might be off, requiring a longer purge period. If it still doesn't light, check the gap at the electrode and pilot; it should be about 1/8 inch for a strong spark. If the gap is correct, the pilot might need replacing. Also, make sure the gas supply pressure is within the limits specified on the rating plate. Finally, the pilot orifice could be plugged, so try cleaning or replacing it.
