Ceiling clearance: The ceiling must be at
least40"fromthetopofthereboxopening
(Figure 2).
Noncombustible material: Noncombustible
materials, such as slate and marble, must be
at least 1/2" thick and may be used without
restriction above thereboxopening, to the
sides or as a hearth extension, so long as
they do not obstruct vent openings for heat
circulating models.
RECOMMENDATION: Use high temperature
finish material for the mantels and/or use
the hood (for VRT3536WS, VRT3536WH,
VRT3542WS & VRT3542WH).
Clearances
Ensure the minimum clearances shown in
Figures 2 through 6 aremaintained.Leftand
right clearances are determined when facing
thefrontoftherebox.
Follow these instructions carefully to ensure safe
installation.Failuretofollowtheserequirements
maycreatearehazard.

openingmustbeatleast16"fromanycom-
bustible wall (Figure 2).

LOCATION OF FIREBOX
Carefully select the best location for installation
ofyourbuilt-inVent-Freerebox.Thefollowing
factorsshouldbetakenintoconsideration:
• Clearance to side wall, ceiling, woodwork
and windows.
• Location must not be affected by drafts
causedbykitchenexhaustfans,returnair
registers for forced air furnaces/air condi-
tioners, windows or doors.
• Installationmustprovideadequateventila-
tion and combustion air.
• Donotinstallthisreboxinasleepingroom
or bathroom.
• Locationshouldbeoutofhightrafcareas
and away from furniture and draperies due
toheatfromrebox.
• Never obstruct the front opening of the
Vent-Free rebox or restrict the ow of
combustion and ventilation air.
• Minimizemodicationstoexistingconstruc-
tion. See Figure 1 for location suggestions.
