3.4 Memory Support and Installation
Note: Check the Supermicro website for recommended memory modules.
Important: Exercise extreme care when installing or removing DIMM modules to prevent any
damage.
Memory Support
The motherboard supports up to 6TB of DDR4 3DS LRDIMM/LRDIMM/RDIMM ECC
2666 MHz modules in forty-eight (48) slots. Populating these DIMM modules with a pair
of memory modules of the same type and size will result in interleaved memory, which will
improve memory performance.
Notes:
1. Be sure to use the memory modules of the same type and speed on the motherboard.
Mixing of memory modules of different types and speeds is not allowed.

3. Using unbalanced memory topology by populating two DIMMs in one channel while
populating one DIMM in another channel will result in reduced memory performance.
4. Memory speed is dependent on the type of processors used in your system. 5. Using
unbalanced memory topology such as populating two DIMMs in one channel while
populating one DIMM in another channel on the same motherboard will result in reduced
memory performance.
