The Survivor Filter PRO X Electric Survival Filter is a portable water filtration device designed for outdoor and emergency use, providing triple filtration to ensure clean and safe drinking water.
Function Description
The primary function of the Survivor Filter PRO X is to filter water from various fresh water sources, making it safe for consumption. It employs a three-stage filtration system:
- Ultra Filter Pre-Filter: This is the first line of defense, designed to remove large particles from incoming water. It is attached to the water inlet hose and must be fully submerged for proper operation. The pre-filter helps protect the subsequent filters from premature clogging.
- Carbon Filter: This second stage filter targets heavy metals, residual pesticides, organic materials, and odors. It clips into the bottom of the Ultra Filter and sits within the main housing. The carbon filter absorbs contaminants, improving the taste and smell of the water.
- Ultra Filter: The final stage removes smaller particles that may have bypassed the pre-filter or carbon filter. This membrane is enclosed in an ABS housing and works in conjunction with the carbon filter within the main unit.
The device is powered by two AA batteries, an external battery/solar pack (not included), or an electrical outlet/wall socket via a Micro USB cable, enabling electric pumping for efficient water flow.

Usage Features
The Survivor Filter PRO X is designed for ease of assembly and operation.
Assembly:
- Connect the Water Inlet Hose to the Water Inlet Fixture, ensuring the Ultra Filter Pre-Filter is attached to the other end of the inlet hose.
- Connect the Water Outlet Hose to the Water Outlet Fixture, ensuring the other end drains into a clean receptacle.
Power Supply Options:
- Two AA batteries: Slide open the battery cover, insert batteries, and close the cover securely for a water-resistant seal.
- External battery or solar pack (not included): Open the USB cover and connect the Micro USB cable to the PRO X, then connect the other end to your power source.
- Electrical outlet/wall socket: Connect the Micro USB cable to the PRO X and plug the other end into the wall.
Priming the Internal System (before first use and after prolonged storage):
- Option #1: Unscrew and remove the Ultra Filter/Carbon Filter assembly, fill the chamber with clean water, then reinsert the assembly and begin operation.
- Option #2: Fill the entire backwashing Syringe with clean water, attach it to the Water Inlet Fixture on the PRO X, and push water through, allowing it to flow out of the Ultra Filter Water Outlet Tip. Ensure the Carbon Filter and Ultra Filter are installed during this step.
- Important Note: To prevent damage, always ensure the Ultra Filter Pre-Filter is attached to the hose before use; do not allow dirty water to flow into the PRO X without it. If storing for more than 4 weeks, re-prime before next use.
Maintenance Features
Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and performance of the Survivor Filter PRO X.
Cleaning After Each Use:
- Disassemble the unit: Unscrew the Ultra Filter counter-clockwise and gently remove the Ultra Filter/Carbon Filter assembly. Unclip the Carbon Filter counter-clockwise from the Ultra Filter/Carbon Filter assembly.
- Flush all filter elements and hoses with clean, fresh water.
- Shake out each filter element to remove excess water.
- Air dry all components before reassembling for storage.
- WARNING: Do not use commercial cleaning solutions or chemicals on the PRO X, as they can damage filters and components. Do not submerge the PRO X with the battery door or Micro USB door open. Clean the housing by wiping it with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Cleaning After Prolonged Use or Before Storage:
- Ultra Filter and Ultra Filter Pre-Filter: These can be cleaned with clean water and/or a vinegar/denture cleaning solution. Disassemble all components, flush with fresh water, then soak the Ultra Filter and Ultra Filter Pre-Filter in vinegar/denture cleaning solution for 20 minutes. Remove, flush with clean, fresh water, shake out excess water, and air dry.
- Carbon Filter: WARNING: DO NOT soak the Carbon Filter in vinegar or denture cleaner, as this will shorten its life. The Carbon Filter cannot be cleaned and must be replaced when needed (e.g., if water has a bad taste or odor, or if flow rate remains reduced after cleaning/backwashing the Ultra Filter Pre-Filter).
Backwashing the Ultra Filter Pre-Filter:
Backwashing can be done on the trail with saved clean water or upon returning from a trip.
- Option #1 (with Syringe): Fill the included Syringe with clean, filtered water. Attach the Syringe to the Water Outlet Tip of the Ultra Filter Pre-Filter and push water through. Repeat as needed.
- Option #2 (without Syringe): Remove the Ultra Filter Pre-Filter from the Water Inlet Hose. Clean its Outlet Tip with vinegar or a clean wet paper towel. Place the Water Inlet Hose in clean, fresh water. Place the PRO X on a flat base. Turn on the filter for 5 seconds to prime the internal system. Connect the Ultra Filter Pre-Filter to the Water Outlet Hose. Turn on the PRO X, allowing water to flow into the Ultra Filter Pre-Filter, flushing out blockages or debris.
Filter Replacement:
- The Ultra Filter Pre-Filter and main Ultra Filter can be reused up to 100,000 liters. Replace if water flow becomes reduced after cleaning.
- The Carbon Filter can be reused up to 2,000 liters. It cannot be cleaned and must be replaced if the filtered water has a bad taste or odor, or if the flow rate is still reduced after cleaning and backwashing the Ultra Filter Pre-Filter.
- Replacement parts and filters can be purchased on Amazon.com, www.survivorfilter.com, or by calling 1-888-602-6367.
Storage:
Store the Survivor Filter PRO X in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat sources. DO NOT FREEZE.
