Long engine life depends much or
the selection of a quality oil and thc
periodic changing of the oil. Daily oi
level checks and periodic change:
are two of the most important mainte'
nance items to be performed.
ENGINE OIL LEVEL CHECK
Follow the procedure below to inspec
the engine oil level.
1. Start the engine and run it for

few minutes.

Stop the engine and wait for threc
minutes.

inspect the engine oil 'leve
through the engine oil leve
inspection window on the righ
side of the engine.
CAUTION
The engine oil level must be
between the
"L"
(Low) line and
"F
(Full) line, or engine damage may
occur.
Check the oil level, through the
inspection window, with the
motorcycle held vertically on level
ground before each use of the
motorcycle.
ENGINE OIL AND FILTER CHANGE
Change the engine oil and oil filter at
the initial 1000 km (600 miles) and at
each maintenance interval. The oil
should be changed when the engine
is warm so that the oil will drain thor-
oughly from the engine. The proce-
dure is as follows:

stand.
